Sir Edmund Hillary Middle School has a proud sporting history which features numerous students who have become professional athletes.
The Middle School provides over 12 different sports. Students are encouraged to participate in sport throughout their time at the Middle School. With an extensive range of sports on offer and with a focus on long-term healthy lifestyle choices, students are pushed to unlock their potential and expand their talents.
Student participation is an important aspect of Middle School. Everyone is encouraged to participate in competitive as well as participatory sport. The new house system has been designed to maximise participation and incorporates such events as The Haka Competition, Athletics, and Swimming.
Our Sport programme is used as a vehicle to install important values such as Mental Toughness, Commitment, Communication, Dedication, Team Work while staying Humble while maintaining a Hunger to Succeed, in not only Sport, but also Academics and Life outside of school.
We equally have a team of sports coaches dedicated to moulding students and improving weaknesses to make a student realise their true potential.
Our results in sport speak volumes and we are often in the top three schools of Auckland Area Championships. We win south sport zone tournaments constantly every year and the highlights of our accomplishments can be found on our Youtube Channel:
