Traditional & Digital Learning​

At SEHC we believe in using technology positively to enhance and enable learning. Our blended approach to teaching and learning, using both traditional teaching methods and modern e-learning techniques, combine to support all our ākonga with their learning programmes.

Embracing Technology
We use Google Apps for Education (GAFE) for collaboration between ākonga and kaiako as well as many other types of software across different learning areas.

Beyond the Classroom
We also support ākonga to join and create communities of learners that extend beyond the classroom and assist in the creation of supportive learning environments by offering resources that take account of individual, cultural, or developmental differences.

Bring Your Own Device
All students are encouraged to take part in our BYOD programme to integrate their learning both inside and outside of school and to take advantage of the information and collaborative opportunities the world wide web and access to technology provides.

Types of Digital Devices
Their device might be a laptop, a Chromebook or a tablet – any Internet-capable device with a keyboard that can assist learning. A mobile phone is not an appropriate device to be used as a learning tool in these contexts.

Accessing Digital Devices
Whānau who are on a benefit may be able to gain assistance from WINZ to purchase a device. We also have devices that can be booked out for school use on a daily basis.
