Welcome to the Art Department at Sir Edmund Hillary Collegiate

Visual Arts is a subject where you can develop your creativity and craftsmanship by learning about established art practices and art conventions appropriate to sculpture, painting and photography. It is a subject that helps you study methods and ideas from established artists, demonstrate an understanding of various art conventions and allows you to produce a body of work that integrates art conventions and art ideas.

The skills you develop and practice in Art will be very useful in many careers including, Curatorial work, Artist, private art teacher/tutor, architect, printmaking, Visual Merchandiser, graphic pre-press worker, sign writer. Anything that requires creativity and practical art skills.

You will learn these skills through understanding of art conventions, researching artist models and art ideas.

Extra Curricula Opportunities

Each year, there are planned art trips for our senior students. This is to allow our students to get further exposure to practicing artists, researchers, artworks and galleries, creating a better insight in the field of visual arts.
